Description: Many jobseekers place too much emphasis on ads and recruiting firms to get interviews, while not putting enough time into networking and contacting people directly. In fact, in today’s economy most jobs are landed using latter two approaches! In addition, job seekers cannot afford to miss out on LinkedIn and other online social networking options that are becoming essential to landing interviews. In this interactive class, you will learn field-tested methods for getting interviews. Included in the discussion will be an overview of LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media that you can no longer afford to ignore in conducting your search. Valuable and free/inexpensive online research resources will also be covered. In-class exercises will get you started on constructing a powerful “Two Minute Pitch”, and writing cover letters/e-mails that will open the doors to the interviews you want. By the end of this discussion, you will have gained new knowledge that will make your job search more efficient and productive.
